you're ordering the wrong things at Chopstix... aside from the pad thai itself, I've never loved the way they do their thai dishes. they get so much else right, however, especially the Malay-oriented dishes (pad kee mauw), the general tso's chicken (immaculate technique about 3 visits out of 4 with the occasional backup cook being decent at best) and the simple 'singapore lo mein' are all great. For soups; the hieu thieu nam vang is best. I know the owners pretty well and I tend to get very good service as a result but I do sympathize with feeling lost in the shuffle there. But worth being persistent.

At any rate, I've had the four entrees you mention ordering and they are not the menu standouts.

Lee,

Thanks for your insights into the Chopstix menu. You're certainly one of its many fans. Will keep in mind these dishes (and definitely order one of them) if I go in the future. Thanks for reading-

Kristen

I just found your blog, so maybe you've already been but Fresco, over by Carabba's, is AMAZING. We've been there several times, and the food is nothing short of phenomenal, even by a true foodie's standards. And, the owner is generally around a chatty, like running into Byron at Blue Water Bay. It's one of my very favorite places in the entire area, and Italian isn't normally that high on my list.

Kristen,

We tried Fresco once some months ago and it was good. Your post may inspire me to try it again sometime this weekend- thanks :)
